This show of over 60 paintings, encompasses recent work painted on-site and in the studio. Inspired by the rugged and beautiful coast of Maine, my work reflects a deep connection to the water, coastline and sky, especially to the natural forms created by tidal streams, rock formations and marshes. The play of light and color, warmth and coolness, depth and atmosphere — all take on a role in each painting. Important to each work is a sense of place, connection and serenity.

And Susan has been honored in a second show: Spectrum 2013

Susan Leggitt, has been awarded 2nd place in Painting in the Spectrum 2013 show at the Carriage Barn Arts Center. This is the New Canaan Society of the Arts annual juried show with work in all media other than photography. The juror was Dr. Jill Deupi, Founding Director and Chief Curator of the Bellarmine Museum of Art at  Fairfield University. From over 400 entries, 80 were juried into the show.
To quote the judge: “I also, of course, extend my sincere congratulations to the prize-winners: Your commitment to your art shines through.”  About Susan Leggitt’s painting she says, “The mark of a strong painting is the presentation of multiple interpretative layers and divergent emotional points of access, all contained within the skin of a well-executed work.  Leggitt hits these marks with her Primordial, which speaks to us on an essential, instinctual level without ever giving us concrete answers. We are left to commune with the piece on our own, relying on our instincts and experiences to decide what this well-executed painting might mean and where it might lead us.”
